Just a quick recovery story ...

Just sharing a quick recovery story, names removed.

Annoying because the guy who bought the bike from someone else on Craigslist wound up getting burned for $200 when all was said and done. Perhaps he'll run into the seller someday, and can extract that $200 the hard way.

I've been meaning to get back in touch with you.  I got my bike back.  It isn't as much a success story as some, b/c no thief was caught, but I can say that without your registry, I would never have seen it again.

XXXXXXXXXXX met up with an SPD officer to exchange the bike and so that he could interview us both.  There was some information in XXXXXX's story that could be investigated, but the officer we met with put the odds of getting anywhere pretty low...

So, my bad luck became XXXXXXXX's bad luck.  It sounded like the guys he bought it from might not have been the guys who had stolen it, but that is speculation.  He paid $400 for it.  I gave him $200 as a reward for coming forward, but it still sucks for him.

Anyway, as I mentioned, your registry was instrumental.  XXXXX thought that the guys he bought the bike from were just a little bit suspicious, so he started checking around.  If he didn't have the registry to check, and if I hadn't posted to it, nothing further would have happened.  So, I owe you a debt of gratitude for your site.

Thanks again,
XXXXXXX
